There are many mailing lists at rootsweb.com but this is one
for Polish researchers. Subscribing to it and how-to subscribe is explained
at the above site. Once subscribed, it allows you to post questions and
receive feedback from others doing Polish research. Contributors to this
list include several of the top names in Polish research. Note: there is NO
COST to subscribing to this mailing list.

Genealogia i heraldyka polska, by
Artur Kornatowski at Warsaw. Non-commercial and free, entirely in Polish.
“. . . even for those with modest ability with Polish the site could be of
interest. First there are the name indices. Numerous heraldic, historical
and other sources have been indexed by name and cities. There is usually a
description of the sources. Old maps are available, along with published
personal histories, a list of personal queries that are searchable and
contain the senders email.”
Stara Warszawa (Old
Warsaw), shows maps of the city and allows you to choose a building, square,
or park for expanded views.
Resources for teaching
Polish. Changes
are occurring in the study of the Polish language and “recent details of
what’s available are nicely covered by Professor Timothy G. Riley on this
web site.
Maps of the
Russian Empire offers
views of selected Russian Imperial maps. This site has an English version.
Not all the text is translated but, it is moderately easy to understand.
Includes a search B-M-D database, a list of all Russian Archives. A link to
Archives in European countries is unfortunately incomplete. Home site is
www.genealogia.ru.
The
1938/39 Warsaw Telephone Directory issued by the Library Of Congress as
a digital book containing 596 images. This site used in conjunction with
Stara Warszawa (Old Warsaw)
described above becomes a valuable resource for the genealogical researcher.
